Stunning wedding at Another Place (Lake District National Park)
Stunning wedding in The Lake District
Every single marriage is meaningful. Yet, sometimes I'm lucky enough to be part of something that is just so overwhelmingly full of purpose, history and love that it leaves an extra deep mark. This was such a day. It’s a story of incredible coincidences and a great splash of luck.
The bride’s grandmother used to spend her summers at the family home by Lake Ullswater as she was growing up. But, the house left the family many, many years ago., and the family spread out across the world. And still, one September weekend this year, they all gathered back in Lake District National Park, and grandmother Eliza, at the age of 91, got to witness her granddaughter get married in the very same house she grew up in.
The bride and groom both have their roots in the UK, but they live together in Australia. Last year, they were holidaying back in their home town Manchester. As they were sitting down for a pint at the local pub one day, they got talking to a stranger. This stranger was the new owner of the old family home, and he told them he was turning it into a hotel, called “Another Place”. The bride and groom weren’t even engaged at this point, and yet they couldn’t do anything else; they booked their wedding venue right there and then.
Fast forward a year, and their families gathered from all around the world - New Zealand, Australia, America, Canada and all over Europe - for a weekend of reunions, guided house tours led by grandma Eliza, and one of the most beautiful celebrations of love I have ever been part of. You don’t want to miss this one, I promise.
